The government continues to bolster strong man Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke, who is wanted in the United States on alleged criminal charges, through contracts to his company, Incomparable Enterprise Limited.
The latest release of contracts from the Contractor General (OCG) endorsed by the National Contracts Commission (NCC) during the month of August 2009 shows an award of a contract for $2.7 million to Incomparable Enterprise for lease of heavy-duty equipment.
Earlier this year, the company was awarded $6 million contract to build a monument for former Prime Minister, the late Hugh Lawson Shearer. This is in addition to close to $30 million from the Kingston & St Andrew Corporation (KSAC) since the Jamaica Labour Party took control of the council.
Reports are that the government has sought answers from the US government on the identities of a number of unnamed co-conspirators in a Grand Jury indictment alleging that Coke committed several counts of drug trafficking and gun-running offences. But under US laws, the prosecution can withhold the names of informers.
This position was upheld in a case, the State v Zamora following a spate of killings of informers who testified in criminal cases.
The Grand Jury indictment against Coke states that from 1994, and October 2007, in the Southern District of New York and elsewhere, and others known and unknown, unlawfully, intentionally, and knowingly combined, conspired, confederated, and agreed together and with each other to violate the narcotics laws of the United States.
According to the Grand Jury, around 1994 Coke and others known and unknown, not being licensed importers, licensed manufacturers and licensed dealers engaged in the business of dealing in firearms: In the course of such business ship and transport firearms in interstate commerce in breach of US laws.
Coke and his co-conspirators would answer charges of possession of and intent to distribute, 1,000 kilograms and more of mixtures and substances containing a detectable amount of marijuana, in violation of Sections 812, 841(a) (1), and 841(b) (1) (A) of Title 21, United States Code.
The accused and his co-conspirators would also face charges for unlawfully, intentionally, distributing five kilograms and more of mixtures and substances containing a detectable amount of cocaine. The Grand Jury was told that Coke controlled the Tivoli Gardens area, a neighborhood in inner city Kingston, Jamaica, since 1990.

If Bruce Golding non`t give im up Jamaica will soon see all type of foriegn policy change !!The P N P time is coming if you live in glass house non`t trow stone stay tune> coming soon
It is good that the JLP will have to deal with the Dudus issue. trust me on this. giving a contract to a man who the US wants just taint the politicians. I am sorry to say that hell is going to beak ,as many political heads might be shoved into a plane taking them to Washington or New York to face US law. Do not be surprise if Dudus sings like a canary in prison. The mafia shows/movies are alive in Jamaica.
Edneisha Scott – America is still in Iraq looking for Weapon of Mass Destruction, which they will never find. Do you remember them telling the world at the UN that MWD is in Iraq? Even showing so-called facts coming from their most intelligent people. I am not here defending Dudus but I like when people talk with sense and not just get up talking pure poppycock because that is what you are doing.
To Ms j Forrest.
Jamaica has signed an extradition treaty with the US. He is wanted to answer charges. How all of a sudden, everybody is concerned over the rights of Dudus? We should not sign the Treaty and then complain. The fact is the US has outlined their case. Do you think that the US is mad to just send for Dudus just so , without thorough evidence. For Christ case, he was even caught on wire-tape. What is he going to say.. Its not his voice dat grow up!!!!!
No body should be concerned about the fact that they are stretching this out hoping the public will tune out eventually.
The world is watching. that is why things are like this in Jamaica. Can you imagine the Pres of the US interfering in a matter before the Courts. They are now sewing what they have reaped. We will see what we shall see. Selah!!!!
Bruce and his Government is exposed. They do not care a justice or people. They have deported several Jamaicans since coming to office but on this case they have become seriously concerned above the rights of the Jamaican citizens. This is laoughable.
