Today is being celebrated worldwide as World Tourism Day, under the theme “Tourism: Celebrating Diversity”. This theme is appropriate because diversity is one of the driving forces behind tourism, as it creates stronger ties with the people of other countries. It is therefore an undisputed catalyst for building understanding, fostering social inclusion and promoting higher standards of living.
Almost one year to the day while we are celebrating another World Tourism day, the world will also recognize the first anniversary of the fall of the some the globe’s biggest and most recognizable financial institutions which triggered a systematic collapse of the world economy.
The Ministry of Tourism is the primary arm of Government that is responsible for the sustainable development of Jamaica’s tourism and the encouragement and facilitation of investments in the sector.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett broke ground on Friday September 11 for the creation of an Elegant Corridor, which will lead to and away from the city of Montego Bay.
